WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police are investigating an fatal stabbing. It happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Martinson. That’s near Seneca and McCormick.

Sgt. Robert Reichenberger said dispatch received a call from a man saying he just killed his wife. The man said he would be on the front porch waiting for police. When officers arrived, they took the man into custody. Officers found the woman’s body in the house. Police say they aren’t sure of the motive at this point, but say the stabbing happened inside of the house.

Police say the suspect was having chest pains at the time. He could be seen leaving the scene in an ambulance.

At this point, police don’t have any information on history of domestic violence with the couple.

Numerous agencies responded to the scene. Sgt. Reichenberger said Sedgwick County deputies and Kansas State Highway Patrol weren’t too far from the scene, saying it’s normal for any available law enforcement to respond.

Sgt. Reichenberger says they have to get a search warrant on the house, saying the suspect lives there, and they can’t go in and recover evidence without permission to be inside of the house.
