SALINA, Kan. (KSNW) – A Salina child was killed and six others were hurt Monday in a crash west of Salina. Officials say it happened around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of K-140 Highway and Burma Road.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 24-year-old Joslyn Gieber was driving north on Burma Road in a 2007 Dodge Nitro. She stopped at a stop sign at K-140. Gieber then failed to yield the right of way, entered the highway, and collided with a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer that was headed west
The Trailblazer overturned, and one passenger who was not buckled up was ejected.
The ejected passenger has been identified as 9-year-old Carmen Asebedo. She was transported to Saline Regional Health Center where she died.
The patrol say that six other people in the Trailblazer were hurt and transported to the hospital as well.

- 28-year-old Melissa Martin
- 11-year-old Angelina Asebedo
- 9-year-old Christian Garcia
- 7-year-old Alex Garcia
- 4-year-old Damian Garcia
The highway patrol says that all six were buckled up. Gieber was also buckled up. She was not seriously hurt. According to the patrol, everyone involved in the crash was from Salina.
