Woman in custody in shots fired call in northeast Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police said one woman is in custody in a disturbance and shots fired call. It started around 9 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Spring, between Woodlawn and Oliver in northeast Wichita.

Wichita Police Department Captain Brian White said a woman was armed and barricaded herself inside the home. White said SWAT was called. Eventually, the woman surrendered peacefully.

“We began to try to make contact with the woman inside. We had been doing that already. We were able to make contact with her, and she peacefully came outside,” said White.

She was arrested. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
