United Way sets up a volunteer reception center in Eureka

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Individuals wishing to volunteer to clean up debris after Thursday’s tornado in Eureka should go to United Way’s volunteer reception center located at Eureka Junior & High School, 815 N. Jefferson in Eureka.

The volunteer center will be open today until 6 p.m.; Saturday, July 9 at 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 10 at Noon – 6 p.m. Volunteers should wear appropriate work clothing, including close-toed shoes and gloves, and can bring tools for cleanup work.

Individuals wishing to donate material items to assist emergency personnel should call 2-1-1. United Way’s 2-1-1 information line has set up a “virtual warehouse” to take information about in-kind donations to match up with ongoing needs of emergency personnel. Callers will be asked for name and contact information and the item(s) to be offered. Emergency personnel will then be contacted for acceptance of the donated items.
