GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KSNW) – The Lee Richardson Zoo in Garden City is losing a few of its furry residents.

Four male cubs will be moved to a new home at the Denver Zoo.

The four, plus a sister, were born a year ago. The zoo will keep the female.

“They’ll become, stay together as one male pride there. They were just reaching an age where dad, basically, in lion world, dad doesn’t want them around at a certain time, because they will eventually challenge him for the role of pride leader,” said Whitney Buchman, Lee Richardson Zoo.

No word yet on when exactly the lions will be moved. Weather conditions need to be right to transport them.
