WICHITA, Kansas (KSNW) – For the first time in several years, Wichita could be on the verge of having affiliated hockey.
Murray Pam of ‘The Hockey News’ reported on Saturday, that Ottawa Senators assistant general manager Randy Lee said the Senators East Coast Hockey League affiliate would be the Wichita Thunder.
The Thunder organization (one of the newest additions to the ECHL) has yet to confirm the report.
An announcement between the Senators and Thunder could potentially be announced next week.
Based in the Air Capital, the Thunder played in the Central Hockey League from 1992 until 2014. They’ve been with the ECHL since the 2014-’15 season.
