Woman, children safe after shots fired at her home

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A woman and her two children were unhurt early Saturday after shots were fired into their home in south Wichita. The incident occurred about 1:10 a.m. in the 2900 block of S. Rutan St., Wichita Police Sgt. Joe Kennedy said.

When officers arrived on the scene, they contacted the 20-year-old victim who said she and her two children, ages four-and-five, were inside the home when someone fired a shot at her car causing damage to the vehicle.

Witnesses told police they saw a four-door vehicle slow down at the woman’s home after which three shots were fired toward her car from someone inside the vehicle.

No one was hurt, and there was no description of the suspects.
