Wichita teen shot in leg in drive-by shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A teenager was shot in the leg in a drive-by shooting early Saturday morning in north Wichita. The incident occurred at Grove Park in the 2700 block of N. Grove about 1:20 a.m.

Wichita Police Sgt. Joe Kennedy said three 17-year-old males and another who was 16 were playing basketball in the park when someone inside a white four-door car drove southbound on Grove and fired three shots. The 16-year-old was struck in the leg. He was taken to Wesley Medical Center by private car with a serious injury.  The other victims were not wounded.

Kennedy asked anyone with information about the shooting to call police at 316-268-4406, or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and could result in a reward if the tip leads to an arrest.
