Update: Oklahoma man killed in Butler County crash

BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – A 59-year-old Oklahoma man is dead after a fatal crash on Highway 77 about 14 miles north of El Dorado. Butler County dispatchers say the crash occurred just before 4 p.m. Sunday.

According to a report by the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria was southbound on Highway 77 when it lost control. The driver of the car, identified as 59-year-old James Edward Birch of Stillwater, Oklahoma, over corrected and entered the other lane. A 2007 Chevy Impala then collided with the Ford.

The two occupants of the Chevy, both from McPherson County, were transported to Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

The Kansas Highway Patrol report adds that all occupants of the vehicles were wearing their seat belts.
