INDIANAPOLIS (KSNW)- Former Republican presidential candidate and Texas senator, Ted Cruz, was getting his share of online criticism Tuesday, but not only for his failed presidential campaign.

After losing the Indiana primary, Sen. Cruz announced his decision to end his campaign in front of a rally of supporters Tuesday evening.

His wife, Heidi, was at his side as he made a speech explaining his reasoning. Afterward, Cruz hugged her before turning to hug his father, who was standing behind him. As he turned, Cruz inadvertently hit then elbowed his wife in the face.  It did not end there. He went to bring her into a group hug, accidentally whacking her again.

It did not take long before Cruz’s clumsy moment turned into a target for online gifs and parodies.
