WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A Wichita police car was involved in an accident on Kellogg near Oliver.
It happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Officials say a driver heading eastbound on Kellogg hit the back of the officer’s vehicle. The officer was finishing up a ticket when the driver ran into him.
The police car then hit another vehicle. The officer was treated at the hospital and released.
Another police officer says this could have been prevented.
“When you start entering areas where you see people working, emergency lights you need to stop multitasking, pay attention and really be careful so you don’t get hurt either,” said Capt. Kevin Mears, Wichita Police Department.
Captain Mears also reminds drivers to merge into the other lane and stay off cell phones while driving.
