Suspect in fatal parking lot stabbing makes court appearance

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A man, accused of stabbing a woman to death in an alleged dispute over a parking spot, made his first court appearance on Wednesday.

Thirty-eight year-old Seth Collins, who was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and aggravated battery, appeared before Sedgwick County District Court Judge Joe Kisner.

Collins is accused of stabbing 22-year-old Kayla Brown around 10 p.m. Saturday night at the Falcon Pointe Apartments in the 4200 block of S. Hydraulic. Her twin sister, Shayla, was also stabbed in the arm.

The altercation began over a parking spot in the complex’s parking lot.

According to officers, Shayla had parked. The driver’s side was door open, but when a 38-year-old neighbor, Seth Collins, wanted to park in the parking space, a fight ensued.

Collins’ bond was set at $250,000.  His next court appearance will be at 9 a.m. on May 18.
