WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police are looking for the suspect pictured who assaulted another man in the restroom of a QuikTrip. It happened Wednesday morning at 1010 East Douglas.

Police say the suspect stole the 67-year-old man’s wallet, and that the victim suffered serious injuries after being hit by a piece of concrete.

The victim was reported in stable but critical condition late Thursday afternoon.

The suspect was seen running east and then north from the area. Police say the man is around 6 feet tall with a medium build.

George McTier frequents that QuikTrip every day and says he was shocked to hear that this kind of incident would happen there.

“Police frequent this quite a bit, very polite, they hang around and talk to all the pedestrians that are outside, the personnel that work inside are fantastic people, so I’m surprised,” said McTier.

QuikTrip spokesperson Mike Thornbrugh says the company keeps track of these kinds of incidents and says something like this is out of the norm.

“Everything we try to do as a company is in regard to safety, be it the design of the store, the location of the store, the type of security systems in the store and the type of training,” said Thornbrugh.

If you have any information about the crime, please contact the Wichita Police Department at 316-268-4177.
