Vandalized Mosque concerns neighbors

WICHITA, Kansas – A mosque that was vandalized in West Wichita has caused concern for some neighbors.

The mosque is located in the 3400 block of West Taft. Police believe it happened sometime between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

When officers arrived, they found graffiti on the south side of the building and on the privacy fence next to the building. Neighbors say, they’ll keep an eye out for others.

“I was really surprised to see it so close to home. It’s directly across the street. I hadn’t really heard about and I hadn’t really seen it. So now I’ve got a watchful eye,” said West Wichita neighor, Marieta Evans.

Police say the graffiti is gang related, but does not have a connection with the mosque. They have identified the gang and are looking for suspects.
