SALINA, Kansas – Salina officials gathered Tuesday morning on the campus of Kansas Wesleyan University to train for an active shooter situation.
According to KSAL, multiple agencies including the Salina Fire Department, Salina Police Department, and Saline County EMS all participated in a drill.
Students in KWU’s Emergency Management and Criminal Justice programs were part of the event and were in full makeup replicating their injuries.
As part of the scenario, a gunman entered the student activities center and made his way upstairs into a classroom, shooting people along the way. Before all was said and done, over a dozen people were shot.
Salina Regional Health Center also participated in the event for accreditation purposes and staff training.
