WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police say 81 traffic stops were made during an enforcement project along Meridian Street through Sedgwick County. The enforcement ran throughout the day Wednesday.

Police say 49 citations were written for speeding, 10 for seatbelts, one for disobeying a stop sign, and 21 others for various violations.

The Wichita Police Department, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department, and Valley Center Police Department and others participated.

Officials say they will probably conduct another traffic crackdown in the future.

KDOT sponsored the event and chose Meridian because it is considered a high-traffic road throughout the county.
