WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police are reviewing videos from a gas station where two college students say they were attacked.

The students say they were attacked over the weekend by a man yelling racial slurs and then chanting Donald Trump’s name.

Khondoker Usama and his friend say the man first yelled racial slurs at another Kwik Shop customer before things escalated and he approached the two students, hitting and leaving injuries on Usama’s friend.

“He was circling around saying, “Trump, Trump, Trump. We’ll make America great again. You guys are losers,” Usama said.

According the police report, the man kicked the students’ car, leaving “minor damage” and then hit one of the students.

The person of interest in the case has still not been found as Wichita police continue to investigate the situation.

“Wichita police are looking for a white male, in his 30’s, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds,” said Lt. James Espinoza. “We’re also looking for an unknown make van that’s white in color with a gray bottom on it.”

The person in the van may have been a witness.

While Usama and his friend are calling this a hate crime, police are not. One Wichita police officer working the case says he wants to hear all sides to the story.

“This is being called a disturbance at this time,” says Lt. Jeff Gilmore with the Wichita Police Department. “We have no comment on whether this could be called a hate crime. We want to talk to all parties involved.”

The allegations prompted the Kansas chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) to speak out in a press conference held Monday.
