Crazy crash leaves three injured

BALTIMORE, Maryland (WBAL) – Three people were taken to the hospital after a collision early Tuesday in downtown Baltimore that left one vehicle on top of another.

“It was pretty intense. It definitely stopped me in my tracks. I don’t know how it happened, but it was really intense,” said Jackie Austin, a witness.

Police said a sport utility vehicle ran a red light and ended up on top of a parked car. A car traveling north on Paca Street hit it, sending the SUV airborne and on top of another car.

“How do you end up like that? That’s definitely crazy,” said Anthony McNeil, another witness.

Johnson said three people were trapped in the crash. The victims were extricated by 1:50 a.m. and are expected to survive, Johnson said.

The owner of one of the parked cars, University of Maryland nursing student Kelly Gregory, got a wake-up call from police, telling her what happened.

“I came out and the other car was flipped and was balancing on top of my car,” Gregory said.

Gregory said she parks in the same spot all the time as it’s near her student housing building, and she never expected something like this to happen.

“That was one of my first thoughts was, ‘Is everyone OK?’ Then kind of, ‘How does that happen?'” Gregory said.

Gregory said her car is a total loss.

Police said they are still trying to figure out charges in this case.
