WICHITA, Kansas –  Wichita Fire Department officials today said local burn restrictions remain in effect until further notice.

“The fire danger is currently rated very high today, even with the weekend precipitation,” Fire Marshal Brad Crisp said. “And it is expected to be extremely high Tuesday.”

All open burning, including fire pits and outdoor fireplaces, are prohibited during the ban. Cigarettes should be fully extinguished in water before being properly disposed of in a metal can. The ban does not include outdoor cooking appliances.
