WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police say a man with a machete attacked another man north of the downtown area Saturday afternoon.

Sgt. Steve Yarberry said the attack occurred in the 700 block of North Broadway around 5:00 p.m.

Yarberry said witnesses called 911 after they saw a 57-year-old man go after a 54-year-old man with the machete.  They said the attack was unprovoked.

The suspect, who was later located still holding the machete at the Lord’s Diner at Broadway and Central, was arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.

Police said they didn’t know what the relationship was between the attacker and the victim.

The victim was not injured in the attack.
