Attica beats Hartford in boys 1A-DII title game

DODGE CITY, Kan. (AP) – Devon Newberry scored 28 points to lift Attica to a narrow 54-52 victory over Hartford in the 1A Division II state championship on Saturday.

Attica trailed the Jaguars by 7 points at halftime. But the Bulldogs overtook Hartford in the third quarter, and the Hartford wasn’t able to make up the difference in the fourth quarter.

Newberry scored three 3-pointers and grabbed eight rebounds. His teammate Jacob Norris scored 15 points and got seven rebounds.

Danen Kistner scored 15 points for the Jaguars, followed by Clayton Fowler with 14 points.
