Wellington man dies after fire

WELLINGTON, Kansas – A 74-year-old Wellington man who was caught in a structure fire last Thursday night has died.

According to the Sumner Newscow, Wayne Bradford died of smoke inhalation after being caught in a detached garage where he lived. Bradford was taken to Wichita hospital. Bradford had been hooked to a ventilator and never came out of a coma.

Firefighters also removed a dog from the structure that was given oxygen on the scene. The dog survived.

Investigators are still not sure what caused that fire. Damage is estimated to be around $10,000.
