Wichita Riverfest announces major headliners

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita Riverfest announced the headliners and major support acts on Kennedy Plaza and the RedGuard Stage for this year’s festival. The festival will run from June 3 to June 11th in downtown.

KSN News talked to Wichita residents are already gearing up for the summer event.

“I’m super excited. I can not believe the acts they are bringing in. It’s awesome to see how far it’s progressed in the last several years is incredible, from being a smaller festival to now being a musical destination,” said Wichita resident, James Bobetsky.

Increased costs of the buttons, which serves as a pass throughout the whole event, has helped sponsor the shows financially this year.

“We got this great line up. We were brave and went out and invested in these artists that would come out and be memorable. Now, we just need to go out there and sell a whole bunch of buttons,” explained Mary Beth Jarvis, the CEO of Wichita Festivals.

Last year’s festival brought in 410,000 people. This year, Jarvis says she’s expecting more.

“We fully expect that this year can exceed that. Not only the great line up, but additions like Black Top Nationals and some of the innovative things that we’re doing with partners all across the city,” Jarvis said.

Buttons are $7 from April 11 to May 5 at Cox Solution Stores.  Adult buttons are $10 starting May 6.  Children’s buttons are $3 all the time.
