Chairman of KSN’s parent company dies

RICHMOND, Virginia – KSN’s parent company, Media General, is reporting the death of the organization’s board chairman, J. Steward Bryan, III.

Bryan, the former publisher of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, was a fourth-generation journalist and publisher.

Bryan’s great-grandfather purchased the Richmond Times-Dispatch in 1887, believing the press pays an important role in U.S. history. He was proud to serve as a watchdog over government.

Bryan joined Media General’s board in 1974 and had served as its chairman since 1990.

Bryan was Media General’s CEO from 1990 to 2005.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters and 5 grandchildren

J. Steward Bryan, III was 77.

Media General owns 70 other television stations across the country.
