Man injured in Sedgwick County vehicle crash

WICHITA, Kan. – A man was injured in a one-vehicle injury crash in south Wichita Wednesday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. when a 1996 Ford Explorer was headed northbound on I-235.

KHP said the driver of the vehicle lost control on the West Street overpass causing the Explorer to leave the roadway and roll down an embankment, partially ejecting the driver.

The 31-year-old Wichita man was taken to Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in unknown condition.

KHP said the man was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

The man was the only occupant of the vehicle.

KHP did not indicate whether weather conditions contributed to the crash.
