Five planets visible as “Planet Parade” begins

Starting Wednesday, sky gazers will have the opportunity to witness a rare astronomical event. Just before dawn, five planets will align and be visible. Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will be simultaneously visible to the naked eye for the first time in more than 10 years.

The “Planet Parade” phenomenon will appear about 45 minutes before sunrise and will able to be seen every morning from January 20, 2016 until February 20, 2016. Those who are not sure which part of the sky to look at can check the U.S. Naval Observatory website or the observatory’s mobile app.

To make things even easier on celestial laymen, CNN has also set up instructions on how to find the planets.
