WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita Public Library will once again screen short films nominated for 2016 Academy Awards.
The library’s Academy Award Shorts is a project that celebrates its 30th year, library officials said in a news release.
The library began the annual event in 1986 when it first previewed short films nominated in the animated, live-action and documentary categories. Wichita’s library was one of the first in the nation to provide a way for communities to see such films.
To qualify as a short film a production must be less than 40 minutes in running time. Short films are typically not rated and may not be suitable for all audiences.
The 2016 screenings will take place on February 20th at the Orpheum Theatre, and on February 27th at the 21st Street Warren Theatre. Both showings begin at 10 a.m.
The full schedule of Academy Award screenings can be found online at the library’s event calendar. Click here to go to the site.
