Fake carrots hide dope

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Texas have intercepted more than 2,000 pounds of marijuana hidden in a shipment of fresh carrots.

Officers assigned to the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge Cargo Facility stopped the tractor-trailer on January 10th.

They quickly discovered packages of suspected narcotics hidden among the vegetables.

The 2,817 carrot-shaped packages of marijuana carry an estimated street value of $499,000.
