ANDOVER, Kansas – According to the Director of Communication at USD 385, Nicole Gibbs, a virus has attacked a network at Andover Public Schools.

The virus that has attacked the network is not one that steals data but rather encrypts files so that they can’t be opened. Staff was notified earlier in the evening and parents were sent the following message:

In efforts to keep you informed, our school district network has been infected with a virus. In an effort to protect student & staff file loss, we have ask that staff & students not access any network share or home directory files until further notice.

At no time can this virus put staff and student personal data at risk. We are working to isolate the virus and restore services as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience as we resolve this issue.”
