WICHITA, Kansas – According to a statement from Spirit Aerosystems, temporary layoffs which were announced late last year have been transitioned to permanent layoffs.
Spirit says a small number of hourly employees are impacted by the layoffs, less than 70 people total.
The statement mentions the reason for the layoffs are employment levels being too high based on factory efficiency and lower than expected attrition levels.
The company says it will offer services to help with the transition for impacted employees.
Spirit still expects to make new hires in 2016 to meet the needs of the business.
