SALINA, Kansas – Slick roads caused numerous accidents in north central Kansas on Monday morning.
A fatal accident closed northbound I-135 at Salina around 7:30 a.m. Traffic had to exit at exit 90, and it was guided through Salina back to the 92 entrance ramp. The highway has since reopened. According to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2008 Chevy was southbound on I-135 when it lost control due to slick conditions and crossed the center median and struck a semi head-on. The driver of the pickup, 39-year-old Eduiges Gonzalez-Najera, was killed. The driver of the semi also received some injuries.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a rollover on I-135 near McPherson/Saline County line. Three people were involved in the accident and two were ejected. They were sent to a Salina hospital.
The highway patrol urged people to slow down and use caution.
