WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police have recovered a stolen vehicle that was involved in a high-speed chase with Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Officers early this morning.
Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop of a suspected stolen vehicle shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday in the 4700 block of S. Hydraulic. The suspect pulled away from officers during the stop and led them on a high speed chase.
During the course of the chase, sheriff’s deputies employed stop sticks to attempt to stop the vehicle. The suspect swerved to avoid them and nearly hit officers. Road signs belonging to the county were also damaged in the course of the chase.
The suspect eventually eluded officers. The stolen vehicle was found later this morning at an undisclosed location. Sgt. Hank Cocking with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department says the Wichita police returned the car to it’s owner.
