Police arrest man in city’s latest homicide

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police arrested a 23-year-old man for the city’s latest homicide.

The homicide happened just before 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 2600 block of East Wilma after an anonymous caller called 911 and told dispatchers there was an unconscious man at a home and then hung up. When police responded, they looked in a window and saw a man lying on the floor.

Police found a 42-year-old man dead with multiple gunshot wounds. He has not been identified.

Police said the man had been staying with the homeowners for several days. The homeowners were not home at the time and have been ruled out as suspects.

Over the weekend, they arrested Alexander Rye. He was booked for murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and robbery.
