Man accused of fatally shooting 15-year-old in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Police in Syracuse say a man has been arrested in connection with the slaying of a 15-year-old boy who died in a shooting that also injured a 17-year-old.

Twenty-one-year-old Keary Moore was arrested Saturday on a murder charge.

Police allege he fatally shot Zavion Escobar as the teen sat on a porch at a home on Hope Avenue in Syracuse on Oct. 14.

The 17-year-old, whose name was not released, had injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening. A police spokesman did not immediately respond to questions about whether a suspect had been apprehended for that shooting.

Police say Moore was arrested after giving a false name when he was pulled over Saturday. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
