LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — A man who made a run for it after a shootout with security guards in Las Cruces, New Mexico got nabbed, thanks to a trail of liquid that leaked from his car to his home.
Police said a man escorted out of the pub early Friday morning got a gun from his car and shot at security officers and that one of them fired back.
No injuries were reported, but at least one round fired by a security officer hit the man’s car.
The man drove off, but police said investigators followed a trail of unspecified liquid left by the car to a home where they arrested 22-year-old Sostenes Quinones.
He was jailed on suspicion of two counts of assault with intent to commit a violent felony.
Police spokesman Dan Trujillo says he doesn’t know if Quinones has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
