WICHITA, Kansas (KSN) – Families of children with special needs got a special visit with Santa Sunday morning.

About 40 families took pictures with St. Nick at Towne West Square.

The mall turned off extra lights and the music in the shopping center to accommodate the kids’ needs.

One mother KSN talked with was very pleased with the event.

“I think it’s a great experience,” said Elizabeth Hide, whose son was recently diagnosed with autism. “My son was recently diagnosed with autism, so I feel like there’s not a whole lot of opportunities for him to be involved, and I think this is a great way for him to get involved with the community.”

This is the fourth year the mall has held the event. Towne West officials say next year the plan is to expand the time frame to allow more families to take photos of their children with Santa.
