WICHITA, Kansas – A Wichita man suffered minor injuries when he tried to stop a man who was breaking into his vehicle in southeast Wichita.

It happened around 7:25 a.m. Sunday morning in the 1500 block of S. Webb Rd.

Wichita Police Sergeant Bob Gulliver said when the 25-year-old male victim tried to stop the suspect from running away, the man ran to a 90s black Dodge pickup truck and tried to drive away.

The victim said the truck circled the apartment parking lot where the victim lived several times, then struck a planter throwing both the victim and the suspect from the truck.

Police said the suspect then ran back to his truck and drove off with some cash and tools belonging to the victim.

Both the victim and the suspect were slightly injured in the incident.

Gulliver said the truck sustained damage to the front end.

Neither the suspect nor the victim’s property have been located.
