WICHITA, Kan. (KSN) – If you were in downtown Wichita earlier Sunday you might have noticed dancers, mariachi bands, and cabeleros making their way up Broadway St. from Central to 21st Street North.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church put on the parade in celebration of the Feast of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

The popular Catholic holiday commemorates the belief that a man encountered the Virgin Mary in Mexico City in December of 1531.

It is said that the Virgin’s appearance lead to the conversion to Catholicism of millions of indigenous people in Mexico..
