WICHITA, Kansas — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office on Friday confirmed the identity of the skeletal remains found in north Sedgwick County.

Capt. Greg Pollock identified the remains as belonging to 54-year-old James T. Labat.

Labat’s remains, found in the 6500 block of North Hillside, were consistent with that of a 45 to 60 year old white male, according to forensic investigators and an anthropologist from Wichita State University.

Detectives report that no major trauma was observed when they examined Labat’s skeleton, and clothing located with the remains were consistent with the anthropologist’s examination.

Detectives had been conducting database searches for missing persons and have ruled out several cases from the local area.
