WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police are investigating after two Wichita businesses were robbed by a suspect with a machete.

The first robbery took place around 9:40 p.m. Thursday at the O’Riley’s Auto Parts in the 4800 block of East 13th. A suspect with a rusty machete came in, took money and left on foot.

The second robbery happened about two and a half hours later at the QuikTrip on Oliver and 13th. Again, the suspect entered with a machete and left with money. Police say they’re still looking for a suspect.

“Obviously, we’re looking to see if these are related. They’re literally like you mentioned before right next to each other. So very good indication it’s probably the same fellow,” said Lt. James Espinoza, Wichita Police Department.

No injuries occurred in either robbery. The investigation is still ongoing.
