HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The board of directors of the Kansas State Fair Friday announced a new general manager of the annual event.
In a news release, Board President Harmon Bliss said Susan Sankey, the fair’s director of competitive exhibits, had been promoted to the top position within the organization. In her previous position, she oversaw activities of 27 departments that comprise the Competitive Exhibits department.
The 2015 Kansas State Fair had an attendance of 369,322, a record for the 102-year-old event. That beat the previous high of 361,647 in 1995. It’s unknown if attendance was the highest in the fair’s history because audited attendance counts didn’t begin until 1978.
Vendors also reported an increase and midway revenue was up 8.1 percent from 2014.
