Deadly cucumber salmonella outbreak continues to grow

Concerns continue to grow after a deadly salmonella outbreak continues to expand.

Imported cucumbers have sickened 838 people in 38 states, according to the Center for Disease Control.

These increases mean that 71 more people have fallen ill since the numbers released by the agency over a month ago.

Four people have reportedly died from consuming the cucumbers.

The CDC says the number of people sickened could continue to rise.

Two separate recalls of cucumbers imported from Mexico were issued in September.

A person infected with Salmonella usually has headache, stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea and sometimes vomiting beginning 12 to 72 hours after eating a contaminated food or beverage. If you are unsure about the cucumbers you purchase throw them out.
