WICHITA, Kansas — We’re less than a week away from a Wichita tradition celebrating Asian culture. We were joined Monday by Linda Nguyen from the Wichita Asian Association.
The annual Wichita Asian Festival presents Asian performances and culinary arts to Wichita. It is organized by volunteers of the Wichita Asian Association. The association is a non-profit organization that provides education and understanding about Asian cultures, fosters cooperation among various asian groups, and assists its members to become contributing and respected members of the community.
The association’s volunteers have organized the Wichita Asian Festival since 1981 to promote Asian cultural awareness through performing and culinary arts. Miss Wichita Asian Festival 2015 will be crowned. There will also be live performances of traditional Asian dances, martial arts demonstrations and authentic asian cuisine.
About 20 stage presentations are scheduled. The event is free to the public, however cash donations will be appreciated. Food and merchandise will also be for sale. The 35th Wichita Asian Festival is October 24th from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Century II Convention and Exhibition Hall.
