WICHITA, Kansas – A middle school history teacher from the Independent School in Wichita got his head shaved by his students on Friday. It was all for a good cause.
The kids collected a record-breaking 9,184 non-perishable food items over five days during homecoming week. The middle school alone brought in 4,900 items.
Students say the incentive to shave their teacher’s head gave them more reason to donate.
“We didn’t know he was going to go for that and he did. We were really excited about that we really jumped on that, and we thought that was pretty funny. We’ve known Mr. Mac for a while,” said Edward Sturm, Independent School eighth grader.
All of the items donated will benefit the Kansas Food Bank.
