UPDATE: The Butler County Sheriff has confirmed this case is a suicide
AUGUSTA, Kansas – The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a body found in the Augusta area.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office confirms a body was found around 9:45 a.m. Thursday by two residents who were driving northbound on SW Dike Road. The Sheriff’s Office says when they spotted the body in the west ditch near Elm Creek, they contacted authorities.
The Augusta Department of Public Safety was the first office to respond to the scene. They confirmed the body appears to be that of a young, white male.
While deputies say the wounds on the body appear to be self-inflicted they are treating the death as suspicious until an autopsy is performed.
