WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police are investigating after a 48-year-old woman took a 2-month-old girl to Wesley Medical Center after the mother didn’t pick up the child. Police say the two women are cousins.

Police said the child had suspicious marks and bruising. Lt. James Espinoza said the child was possibly left with the woman for up to three days.

“The 48-year-old was interviewed last night. They will do a follow-up today. It is obviously important to find the mother,” said Lt. James Espinoza.

The child was taken in protective police custody, and the Exploited and Missing Child Unit is investigating the case.
