ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (WFLA) – Police are looking for a man who stole more than $100,000 worth of prescription drugs from a St. Petersburg Walgreens. The theft occurred Wednesday around 11 p.m.

The pharmacist arrived at the store, located at 6735 Central Ave., Tuesday around 8:30 a.m., noticed the missing painkillers and called police.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video and found a man, thought to be in his 20s, forcing the pharmacy counter’s locked metal shutter open. The man is seen in the video taking the pills and walking out of the store’s front door. Workers thought he was acting suspiciously but figured he’d stolen candy, police said. They said something, but the suspect didn’t stop, police added.

The suspect was driving a black Chevrolet with a Michigan license plate. The plate starts with the numbers 6882.
