National Retailers Federation: Consumers to spend $6.9 billion on Halloween

$6.9 billion; that’s how much we will spend on costumes, candy and Halloween decorations.

A National Retailers Federation survey says the average American will spend $74 this year.  That’s three dollars less than last year.

The most expensive Halloween purchase is typically the costume.  This year’s most popular adult costumes include witches, animals and zombies.  You’ll also see a lot of young princesses and superheroes knocking on your door.

Americans are also expected to spend $350 million on their pets this Halloween.  The top pet costumes are pumpkins, hotdogs and Batman.
