TOPEKA, Kansas (KSNT) – Less than half of adults get their flu shot each year according to the Centers for Disease Control.
However, because of the severity of the virus, local healthcare providers are making it faster and easier for you to get your vaccination.
Tuesday was the first day of Stormont-Vail’s drive-thru clinic.
Patients didn’t even have to leave their cars.
Many were able to just roll down the window, get their shot and drive off.
Cars were lined around the block with people waiting to get their shots.
The hospital expected to give more than a thousand flu shots in the first day.
“Cars are pretty backed up this morning. It is the first day. But they’re moving through pretty quickly, and it is convenient, and it’s nice not to have to find a parking place and get out of your car and walk in. So, I think it’s out of convenience more than anything,” said Nancy Burkhardt with Stormont-Vail HealthCare said.
This is the 14th year of the drive-thru program.
Stormont-Vail will hold the drive-thru event the next two Tuesdays starting at 9 in the morning.
