Butler County man burned when his motorcycle catches fire

BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. – An Augusta man was injured Wednesday in a one-vehicle motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 54.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the 40-year-old man was riding a 1948 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on US 54 between Meadowlark and Indianola roads when the fuel tank began to leak and caught fire.

KHP reports the man was taken to the Via Christi St. Francis burn unit in critical condition with burns to the lower part of his body.

It was not immediately known what caused the fuel tank leak.
